Events are an important part of what makes Clarington a great place to live. From downtown festivals and community celebrations to concerts, markets and tournaments, events bring people together, create memorable experiences and help build connections across our communities.
As Clarington grows, we're planning for the future of events and want to hear what matters most to you.
The Municipality is developing two connected plans:
- A 10-year Special Event Strategy, supported by a five-year Action Plan; and
- A five-year Operational Event Plan for the new outdoor Clarington Sports and Event Grounds at 801 Maple Grove Road in Bowmanville.
There will be multiple opportunities for residents, community organizations, and event organizers to share their perspectives on the events that matter most to Clarington.
Your feedback will help inform how the Municipality delivers and supports special events, how municipal event spaces are used, and the resources, processes and partnerships needed to support successful events.
The Special Event Strategy
The Special Event Strategy will establish a long-term direction for special events in Clarington, with an Action Plan identifying priorities and actions for implementation, including:
- The type, mix and scale of events taking place across Clarington;
- Opportunities to support a diverse range of events throughout the municipality and throughout the year;
- The role of the Municipality in delivering, partnering on and supporting events;
- Municipal event spaces, infrastructure, amenities and accessibility;
- Event planning, permitting and approval processes;
- Staffing and resources needed to support events;
- Partnerships, sponsorships, funding and other approaches to sustainable event delivery; and
- Ways to improve the experience of residents attending and organizing events.
The Operational Event Plan: Clarington Sports and Event Grounds
The broader Operational Event Plan for the new outdoor Clarington Sports and Event Grounds at 801 Maple Grove Road includes preliminary concepts for a gathering and event space, including a covered stage that could support concerts, performances, programming and community activities.
Please note: This survey is focused specifically on the proposed event and gathering space components of the future Clarington Sports and Event Grounds. Feedback related to the sports facilities and field components will be collected through a separate engagement process at a later stage. We encourage you to share your thoughts on how the event space can best serve the community.
The Operational Event Plan will explore how the proposed outdoor event and gathering spaces could function successfully, including:
- The types, scale, and number of events the site could support;
- Infrastructure, amenities and servicing needs;
- Accessibility and public safety considerations;
- Site operations and event requirements; and
- The resources needed to operate and maintain the space.
